Trade Fair: Asia Fruit Logistica

Rijk Zwaan Australia team members will join international Chain and Crop Specialist colleagues from around the world at Asia Fruit Logistica in Hong Kong to demonstrate to partners in the Fresh Produce Value Chain how expanding and broadening the range of fresh produce in store can help stimulate overall vegetable consumption.

Rijk Zwaan regards Asia Fruit Logistica (6th - 8th September 2017) as the ideal opportunity for exchanging thoughts and ideas with the Asian vegetable chain, and the company will be participating in the event for the eleventh consecutive year. The spotlight this year will be on various innovations, such as Knox™ – a natural trait that delays pinking in lettuce and is expected to provide an extra boost to Asia’s fast-growing fresh-cut segment.

New flavours, shapes and colours
The fresh produce sector in Asia is advancing rapidly in terms of production, processing and sales; consumers are becoming increasingly interested in new flavours, shapes and colours. Rijk Zwaan is responding to this by continuously expanding its product range.

During Asia Fruit Logistica the company will demonstrate areas of huge untapped potential, including within leafy crops, melons and tomatoes. Rijk Zwaan knows from experience that it is possible to increase overall fruit and vegetable consumption by working together with retail partners to analyse and improve their fresh produce ranges.

Steven Roberts, Managing Director Rijk Zwaan Australia said there are opportunities for Australian growers to develop more export orientated markets into Asia.

Congress and knowledge sharing
This approach also forms the central theme of a presentation during Smart Horticulture Asia. On Thursday 7th September Jörg Werner, Business Development Manager Rijk Zwaan Germany, will hold a presentation about the Retail Center which the company opened in Berlin earlier this year. This dedicated facility is used to gain valuable insights into consumer behaviour through innovative techniques and research.
