What is it like working for Rijk Zwaan?

Our work is varied and fulfilling, and no two days are ever the same. We face a range of new challenges with every season and new variety that is developed, have opportunities to contribute to, and develop, ongoing improvements in efficiencies and sustainability, and get to work outdoors in spring and summer. There is also scope for career development and international travel.

What type of roles do you have?

We work across a vast range of fields in Rijk Zwaan and have roles for scientists, technical sales representatives, laboratory assistants, phytopathology coordinators, selectors and crop specialists. We also have staff working in the human resources, finance, marketing and communications fields.

In Australia, we have casual vacancies around August and September each year. These roles primarily focus on crop maintenance and offer a fantastic opportunity to learn the basis of our seed production process. Please check the vacancies section on our Australian website for local opportunities. 

How many offices do you have in Australia?

Our head office is in Musk, Victoria, which is 1.5 hours south-west of Melbourne. Forty staff members are based at Musk and this is where we do research and development, seed production and conduct trials for new vegetable varieties. We recently invested in our facilities and are proud of our state-of-the-art laboratories, glasshouses and hydroponic systems.

We have a trial and production site at Bacchus Marsh, Victoria, an hour west of Melbourne, and a small office with 10 staff.

Our Toronto office is in New South Wales, two hours north of Sydney. Four staff work there in sales, administration and marketing. We also have sales representatives in Queensland, New South Wales, South Australia and Western Australia.

How do you pronounce, 'Rijk Zwaan'?

Think of a garden rake when you say "Rijk". "Zwaan" is phonetic.
